Hi Mac,
A friend of my fathers was annoyed by his neighbors German shepard chasing his car each time he went by. He decided to teach the dog a lesson. He pryed off a hubcap from his car and inserted the end of a burlap sack under the hubcap and put it back on. The next time he drove by, with this sack flapping around, the dog ran out and grabbed the sack. It flipped him around and broke his neck. Not the anticipated result but it did cure the car chasing habit. I wonder if he got rid of the sack before telling the owners that he ran over their dog? This man was a dog owner as long as I knew him and I am sure he was horrified at the unexpected outcome.
