Chris, you certainly can make a soldered galvanized tank. I would recomend the book "Working Sheet Metal" by David Gingery. Amazon has this for $8.95. It describes in detail how to make a tank with formed seams and soldered joints.
EC, I used the "Kreem" lining kit. From what I can see the lining came off the roof or top of the tank.
