How to remove late dash knobs?

How do you remove the plastic dash knobs on the WM300? They don't unscrew or have a spring clip like the early knobs. I was able to get the whole knob and shaft assembly out of the light switch, remove the unit from the dash, and reinsert the shaft in the unit. No such luck on the blower motor switch.
