for clarity, im running the setup in a 12v command car but your experience in a ffpw should be similar. the alternator is a replacement of the generator in technology only & not a high output unit. it makes around the same amps as the orig as verified by the rebuilder. i have the alternator feed (output from the alternator) going to one side of the ammeter and the other side to the ring terminal of the starter terminal. i used 6 gauge wiring to the firewall terminals of the radio filter. the wire harness (precision wiring harness) picks up from the other side of the radio filter and is stock from there. I have not experienced any problems, but am interested in what you are saying. it appears that the only way to get the ammeter to read correctly it to wire it this way. i did some research on the subject and it appears to be the way to use a one wire in the application. im interested in your input & value feedback on this subject. my gauge is a 60a unit.
