I was wondering that too. But according to the books, the WDXs used only 35 amp generators. "Most" of the later trucks used 45, 50, or 55 amp generators. So that theory would imply that most early trucks would use smaller batteries and most later trucks would use larger batteries. However, all of the WDX and early B1PW model trucks I have owned had the battery box correct for the larger battery. Only the later B2PW and B3PW model trucks that I have owned had the additional bracket in the tray for the smaller battery.
