My problems with the broker arose trying to find out WHO the carrier was in the 1st place. With the independents, you deal directly with the driver. It's a way they can prevent running dead head. That being said, you do have to concern yourself with that drivers whims too. Also if he breaks down in east Bohunk and decides to drop your load, ect.

It's ALWAYS best to get everything ya do in writting first. This way your protected if something comes back to bite you. There are some REAL snakey people out there, and unfortunately, most of them are lawyers.
