Try this site for details. It's a Mopar flat head forum. It seems that in an earlier thread on the PW forum someone said there are some suttle differences in the marine block. If I recall it was the water passages. In marine applications if they are useing two engines most often one rotates in the other direction. I don't know for sure if the flat heads had this but I wouldn't want you to end up with 4 speeds in reaverse, one forward and your fan blowing air out the radiator. My first motorcyle would start up in reverse direction but that's another story.
