{{I know this has probably been covered on this forum a hundred times, but I am about to change over my '41 WC to 12 V and I am wondering if I can get a few opinions on the "most economical" way of achieving this. (The wife has cut my PW allowance as there are too many unfinished house projects).
What is the best "salvage yard" parts to get?
Brackets needed?}}

My '52 was converted before I got the truck. It's got an alternator out of a '70 or so Chevy truck. The same with the voltage regulator. For an adjustment bracket, it has a really big turn buckle with one end bent slightly and the bolts on the block and thermostat housings are run through it. I just changed over to a solid state regulator today by putting one I got from J.C. Whitney on. It cost right at $10 and stopped the flicker my old regulator was causing in my headlights. Since it is so close the negative terminal of the battery, I added a safety shut off switch to the negative terminal in case the battery slides against the postive terminal on the alternator. I would rather rotate the terminal farther away but that is not practicable at this time.
