Relax. Do you have a generator or an alternator? Light bulbs have numbers. From those numbers you can determine 6 or 12. Sometimes the voltage regulator will be marked. Sometimes the alternator has an integral voltage regulator. Is there a relay between the power and the starter and starter switch? Positive ground means simply that the positive terminal of the battery is connected to ground. Usually the block. Do your gauges and dash lights work? The questions are legion.
