one could machine the rod journals with the
engine in the vehicle
one thing to remember these jobs were done
by machinests not DIYer's
most autoparts stores had a machine shop in
the back that would do required work
but ring & valve jobs (no rebore) were
a one day project in the 50's
plenty of room to work in the engine compartment
