Hey all, Since winches are the current topic of interest, I need help from answering bracket qustions. When I say brackets, I mean the the front and rear support brackets that the winch bolts to.
I disassembled 3 mu2 winches this weekend, unbolting bumpers, bumper braces, etc.
These were a WWII WC 3/4 ton MU2-R,
1950 PW MU2-R and a 1964 PW MU2-2.
The only differences, other than 15" vs 17" frame extensions was the front and rear brackets that the winch actually bolts to. Here is what I found.

WC and 1950 PW REAR Bracket is the same, made of angle iron. Both the same legnth.
I think BOTH have a curve up, toward the center of each bracket.

1964 PW REAR bracket is completely different. It is flat verticle stock, with a triangle piece of horizontal stock welded to each end.

QUESTION 1... Is the REAR early angled bracket usable on a later 251 ci enginged PW with 17" frame extensions ?

Qustion 2.... The opposite, LATE flat stock
rear bracket, can it be used on an earlier PW with 230 ci engine and 15" frame extensions ?

Front Brackets... 1950 PW and 1964 PW FRONT
brackets are right angled, but the 1964 PW bracket is shorter at 25.75" in width and 1950 PW front bracket is longer, at 29" with 2 support triangles welded in 4 " from each end.

Question 3....Can the 1950 230 ci engined FRONT 29" winch bracket be used on a later 251 ci engined PW with 17" frame extensions ?

Question 4....Can the 1964 251 ci engined FRONT 25.75" width bracket be used on an earlier 230 ci engined PW with 15 " frame extensions ?

Thanks in advance,

Bob Stopka
