Little mention is made in Europe about the Chrysler engineering that is saving Mercedes butt...The ML series was a Major Loser, it and the R series are now built on the Grand Cherokee/ Commander platform with more parts sharing going on than Mercedes cares to publicise. The arrogant german thought was to take over Chrysler, the reality is that Chrysler has converted Dieter Zetsche, the chief executive of DaimlerChrysler, over to the "Chrysler Way" and he has instituted several Chrysler methods at Mercedes. Keep in mind that Mercedes is less than half the size of Chrysler, Damiler's financial strength came from the areospace industry, not the automobile industry.
