After 14 days of intensive driver training...I passed my driving skills portion of the commercial drivers license! I had an 'instruction permit' issued May 1st and was good for 6 months..however, I have a very experienced driver trainer and he was able to whip me into shape in a mere 14 working days for the final driving / skills tests!! ken Sterrett (also holds a CDL ) accompanied me to Gooding Idaho for the test yesterday morning. I passed all 3 portions of the test with flying colors! And starting Monday I will be driving the truck in the picture for local delivery & pick-ups for about 3 weeks, then I will go over the road with another instructor for about 4 weeks (after the Idaho Trail Ride) and then I will have my own rig and start running the 9 western states!! If you have never been behind the wheel of a big rig..I emplore you to take heed to them and the professionals that operate them! It has been quite an awakening to me on how much skill and knowlege there is involved in driving a big truck! And how generally 'stupid' most drivers of autos really are on the road!! Be courteous, be safe.. and above all give the big guys some room on the road!!
