Non-Synchro Transmission Question

Hi guys, I have a lot of work to do on the Carryall to have it ready for the rally but tonight I disassembled the transmission to replace the bearings and make sure it looks okay before installing it. Since I haven't rebuilt a transmission in 30+ years I have a few really basic questions.
1. The two sealed main bearings that I got from VPW have a groove and snap ring around the outside. Should I remove the the snap rings and toss them or replace the two in the case. The old ones in the case appear to be okay.
2. While driving out the front main drive pinion bearing with a drift I damaged the front oil retainer washer. Do I need it with the new sealed bearings? Also do I need to use the "rear" oil retainer washer with the new bearing? (These would have to be put on before the bearings are pressed on and I'm not sure if they're needed.)
3. Is there any trick to driving off the main shaft rear bearing and which way does it drive off. I don't want to damage anything.
4. I will be taking the two bearings to a machine shop tomorrow morning to have them pressed on. Is there a front and back to the bearings? Part # out??
5. The non-synchro transmission will go behind a 251 I got from VPW with a bellhousing and the larger clutch. Will there be other issues I have to deal with when I go to bolt it up?
6. What weight or type of oil should I use?

Above picture stolen from VPW website. Thanks.
