V-8 conversion question

I have my Poly suspended over the engine bay and am looking at the oil pan. Mine has a front sump, and there sure looks like there is going to be alot of interference. Is the oil pan supposed to be a rear sump? Or do I just take a 5 pound hammer to it and bash all of the interference out of it? (Just kidding) Ray makes absolutly no mention of the oil pan in his manual.
