There was plenty I didn't like about Clinton, just different things than with Bush. But Bush is president now. The fact is this misuse of secretly-gathered information has been going on for a long time. J. Edgar Hoover sure provided plenty of dirt on anybody the President needed ruined.

But that's why I don't trust any of them, and I don't believe the "if you have nothing to hide..." argument. Once the data's in a database, any political hack with the right approval can go on a fishing expedition against anybody. There's always something, even if it's not quite "illegal". Maybe you checked into a lot of hotels with different women. Maybe you have FFL records of purchases of a lot of guns that don't look like "hunting weapons". Maybe you hung out on an internet forum where a lot of people severely criticised the government. Maybe you're secretly gay and you have a profile on gay.com. None of this stuff is illegal, but if you get to be causing trouble for some future government (sure, think of Hillary), it would sure make it easy for them to either blackmail you outright, or ruin your public ambitions.
