how much would it cost to museum restore a ffpw to concours standards INCLUDING THE BASE TRUCK? add to that a PROFIT for the 100s of hours spent restoring it and the cash outlayed to build up an inventory. i dont think steve's numbers are out of line for a top end restoration compared to say a 57 chevy convertible that can bring the same money at a sale. add to the mix that you can buy EVERYTHING NEEDED to do a 57 chevy. the high end restorations are not money makers for the purchasers. just check hemmings and see how many 100k restorations sell for less than the restoration cost. work is work and whether its a duesenburg or a pw -quality costs. true, most of us wouldn't go to the nth degree in redoing our trucks (i build high quality drivers - my style). glen reid's truck or one of marty's trucks approach the high end of refurbishment, but i havent seen a fully restored ffpw yet. its all perspective and if you ever see a overrestored 57 chevy with reproduced assembly line chalk marks on the frame, you can see how the numbers can spiral out of control. i'll take a refurbished driver with a diesel and helitool mods. but to each his own.
