That's the group I was talking about, all Marine rigs, approx. 1500 or so, at several DRMO's around the country. The release of those vehicles DID trigger the non-compete clause and no other Humvees have been released since. The sale started out under the radar, but several off-road magazines found out and published articles, which got the attention of AM General, which got the attention of several politicians, which got the attention of (then) DRMO.
I don't know if Boyce was involved in buying any of them at that time, I only mentioned Boyce as an example IF the next lot is ever released. I would think, because of the amount of work needed to be done to make them DOT legal, that there would be an opportunity for companies like yourself, Boyce, AEV and others to build street ready package deals for customers.
H1's sold at a rate of approx. 1,000 per year, at an average of $105,000 each. A biodiesel or P100 powered Humvee selling for under $50,000 might just have a market, it all depends upon the price that they bring at any future auction and the amount of work needed to convert them. With a lot of them "up-armored" they can't get much better than 6-7 mpg and the top speed is seriously degraded with all the weight of the armor. Unless the armor brings a good sum at the recycler, it is going to be a tough job. The ones that I saw from the first lot, were worse than "pretty rough", so many of them may just see the crusher.
