Thanks everyone who offered ideas on removing the cups. The drift worked fine. Problem was I had a new toy (the shop press) and had to use it instead of the "old" drift method.

The press just bound the race up... I don't know why, but using the drift and working my way around a few times, it came out without much drama. Then I flipped the hub over and the drift worked great on the other race too.
