truck. Back in the 40's and 50's they had a low side bed option available on civilian trucks. Civilian truck bed lengths only came in 6 1/2', 7 1/2' and 9'. Only the 9' beds had embossed bed sides like the Power Wagon bed. The shorter two were flat sided and did not have a third stake pocket hole over the fenders. Note the rear fenders, civilian trucks rear fenders were much different from Power Wagon fenders. Note the gas tank filler neck location on this truck compared to a civilian truck. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this is an original Power Wagon bed. I think that this truck had the bed sides lowered either at the factory or at some type of coachworks company because it has been done very professionally. For some reason the original owner of this truck decided to have the bed sides lowered. The Power Wagon was advertised as a truck to be for many different uses so people had them equipped or modified differently to fit their particular need. As for the combat wheels it seems that I find several PW's in my area wearing them. I am not sure why that is but original lock ring rims are not hard to find. I am sure I can find a full set for the truck. Yes, you are correct, the spare tire mount is missing. There was a tool box mounted in the area where the spare tire mount should be. Dennis Sherman has reproduction spare tire mounts available for a very reasonable price.
