I heard that the Washington legislature was getting rid of the park admission fee, so I guess the Dems did one thing right, even if it did take a Republican to propose it. Now if only the Forest Circus would do the same. The last time I checked, the Republicans were still in control of the federal government, but they still make you pay to simply walk on a trail.

There's no reason the Dems should have taken over the Washington legislature. I put the blame squarely on the state Republican party. They've been pandering too much to the religious nuts and too many Republican legislatures have had no agenda except to vote "no" on everything. Washington Republicans used to be reasonable enough to actually get elected, but they're not any more. I know a lot of folks will disagree with me, but I'd like to see the Washington Republicans go back to what they do best, which is pushing for efficient government, small bureaucracy, and low taxes, rather than always getting in fights about sex and drugs and other things people do in the privacy of their own homes.

I don't blame the Dems for spending lots of tax money on bloated bureaucracy and feel-good projects. That's their nature and that's what I expect of them. But I do blame the Republicans for continuing to nominate candidates that might pass some ideological purity test but can't win the election.
