I Firmly believe that history repeats itself. While I do believe that we should tolerate others personal beliefs and feelings it should never be against the collective good to do so. I believe that Pres. Ted Roosevelt said in his first state of the union address that "We must put aside the belief that we are French, Irish, German, English, Or what ever nationality that we may claim to be and become Americans. Only together can we overcome the forces that will tear this nation apart." So I think it needs to be changed to read "We must put aside the belief that we are White, Black, Brown, Red, Yellow, Or what ever Race that we may claim to be and become Americans." I don't have any problems with anyone coming here but they must realize that in coming here they are doing so to leave behind the problems of the society that they were so desperate to get away from and that means to adopt the ways of life that we have here. Not to say things like "Well in my country we used to....." cause your not in your country now, are you? and if you where then you would be free to do what ever you did in your country and speak the language you spoke but your not this is the U.S.A. and we speak english and our criminal get punished our way and our culture is the way it is and if you are here and not grateful for the things we have then GO HOME. Practice what ever religon you want but follow it's tenats of being a good and honest person as all religons teach that. Come to the realization that life back home stunk or you wouldn't have wanted to come here in the first place. The grass isn't any greener but there is more of it. So the American dream is alive and well but It relys on the individual to keep it that way and the collective to push for it's survival. Keep on doing the things that will ensure all of our rights and hopes to survive and we will all keep our heads over the water. Stop and the world will halt.
