Even though I had chickenpox as a kid I came down with shingles in February. It took me 8 weeks to get over them.
The scarring that was left on the side of my neck was just a bonus.
I also found out that everyone that has had chickenpox will eventually develop shingles at some point in their life.
Given the recent cases in the mid-west it makes me wonder if we (who received the polio vaccine 47+ years ago) still have some residual polio immunity.
