Air entrained concrete actually continues to cure untill the compounds start breaking down! decades in general! By slowing the cure with the application of water to the surface of the concrete the strength is increased dramatically! The initial or working cure is standardized at 28 days for 5-7 sack air entrained concrete mix of ASTM specifications! Admixes will vary this by some degree. Also heat is a detrimental factor of proper cure. Concrete generates a considerable amount of heat during the intioal cure, thus it is wise to keep the surface wet or covered with moisture retaining material like visqueen or plastic sheeting to keep the moisture in. Otherwise hairline heat cracks will occur in the finished surface. (not a problem for durability, just esthetics ) Coatings should not be applied to 'green' concrete unless so specified by the manufacturer and in some cases they will add days and even weeks to the initial cure time of the concrete.
