Most upgrade carbs don't show any overt jetting problems. You may have been flooding due to a chunk of crap under the fuel inlet needle. Most common cause is a chunk of the rubber fuel hose that was scrapped out by the raw end of a hacksawwed steel line, whenever somebody changes a carb, or adds an inline fuel filter. I prefer all sttel lines where under pressure, pump to carb, and the proper barbed fittings elsewhere.

So, my theory, flooding casrb, gas into oil, changing oil didn't get all of the gas out of the lifters, pushrods, etc. Took a while to ccok it out, now it's fine???
