the further north you go. My CCW permit is issued in Kern county. I own property up there and made it my official residence for the required six months. The permit is valid statewide and honored by Nevada and Arizona. They don't hand them out like lollipops but they can be had.
Another odd little aspect of California law. If you wear a holstered weapon in plain sight in public It's technically legal. Say as a security guard or shop owner. However the moment you sit in a vehicle with said weapon it is considered CCW and without a permit you are arrestable.
Wearing a holstered weapon in plain sight on the streetin southern California will probably get you arrested for brandishing. And just to rub a little salt into the wound , Possesion of clubs,batons,saps, or nunchucks is a felony. CCW is a misdemeanor for a first offense and expunges after 3 or 5 years.
