Loss of power

Ok my m37 had a fuel leak so I repaired it with some gas tank repair putty and it worked fine. All the gas leaked out before In was able to repair the leak. I put a couple of gasllons in it with a gas can and drove to the shell station. I started it this morning and it was fine. When I went to drive it up the hill from my house, it seems like it has no power. Then I drive it down hill in second or third with my foot off the gas, I can here it backfire in the manifold. Is it cheap gas or wat is th problem? Robert.
