Screws that had used soap as a lube at assembly rust. Maybe a powder coated frame would be immune, but soap is chemically active (duh!). It is also hydroscopic- it attracts water. So some other type of lube would be preferred. I know some tire lube says non-rusting... At the tune-up shop, for fuel hose, we used spray carb cleaner. Not reccomended around paint. It brought oils out of the rubber. WD-40 perhaps? Lots of oils swell and soften lots of rubbers, so oil wouldn't do either. Silicone brake fluid? Does it eat paint?
