The house-type latch on the 1939 doors is a lot better than the cheap latch they used 1940-47. Of course even the 40-47 system works well if you have NOS components.
Of course you'd have to have the door and the matching door pillars at both sides, but very little chance of the '39 doors opening by themselves.
