Will you be doing much towing?
I recently took a 800 mile round trip with my 2001 Ram CTD. I was on the interstate nearly the whole way, traveling around 65 mph.
I got about 13 mpg going down fully loaded with a steel trailer, 2 horses and gear.
On the leg back, I got about 16 with an empty trailer.
For towing, I think Paul is right, Cummins hands down.
