You can get a correct year tag for your antique. I found some brand new tags that were never issued for my 69 Charger and my 71 Charger. When they became antiques (35 years for cars here) I went down to the DOT and got antique tags for them both. But I got to use the brand new 69 tag and the brand new 71 tag I purchased a few years ago.
This picture of the old International has a year tag for his antique tag put on. These tags are your tags and if you sold the vehicle you take the tag off and keep it.
Otherwise you get a boring old plain white tag that says antique at the bottom of it.
