In the medical disciplines, we use metric all the time here (in the U.S.)
We have to constantly convert back and forth to English measurement, especially when communicating to the general public...this gets to be a constant mental exercise but part of everyday life.
Also, everybody here, even those who are not into antique vehicles, have different tool sets to deal with the situation.
In the 60's I recall we should of/could of done it; almost went through but for politics?
