Over 12 billion dollars per year are sent to Mexico by immigrant workers, both legal and illegal. It is the second largest source of income for Mexico, after their oil exports.
These workers are represented to their employers by their "Green Card". They are legally in this country. Hiring immigrant workers not legally here is a $10,000 fine, per employee. There have been no employer fines in over 2 years. We need to see a few employers fined for first time offenses and jailed for repeat offenses, we need interior sweeps, we need better border enforcement and until that corrupt cesspool of a country known as Mexico changes so that it's economic system can support it's people, we need a real border fence. Right now we are a dumping ground for the poor, ignorant and uneducated underclass of Mexico.
This is a country of immigrants, LEGAL immigrants. The ability of our country to properly assimilate 12-15 million illegal immigrants is seriously in question, emergency rooms closing, overcrowded schools, thousands driving without licenses or insurance, poverty, gangs and increased crime are all a part of the problem, but the biggest problem is the unwillingness of these massive numbers of illegal to assimilate. Making the border states into Mexico with all of Mexico's problems is not the answer.
