Arthur:

I have mixed feelings too. My people come from Europe via Ellis Island. I'm 2nd generation American. The reason this country is so vital is the influx of fresh blood. I'm all for it.

That being said, I was listening on the news when the mayor of LA came on and said this bill they were/are talking about will turn 11 million people into criminals. 11 million. 11 million. 11 FREAKIN MILLION! That's worse than an invasion.

Now these same people that are pro illegal are saying one thing on the main stream media, but when they get on the Spanish media, they are throwing the race card all over the place. They also don't mention that by the end of this year you'll need a passport to go to Canada (or it may be 2007).

Back in 1939 or 1940, there was an incident where a group of people tried to come here to escape from Hitler (they made a movie about it called "A Ship Of Fools"). They tried to enter legally but were turned away only to be mostly killed off in the death camps.

I can't buy into the line that they only take jobs we Americans won't do (includes all races, key word, AMERICAN). Currently here in Illinois, a former govenor is under inditment and there's a trial going on (not anew thing in this state). It stems back to when he was the Secratary Of State (in charge of our DMV) and people were obtaining CDL's without taking the tests (payolla, also nothing new).

What brought this about was an accident. A part of a truck fell off on to the road. A minivan ran over it and burst into flames. There was a family in the van, Mom, Dad and 9 kids. 7 of the kids burnt to death. The truck driver was aware of the part falling off but kept on going (witness reports).

This guy was an illegal with bogus papers and a bogus CDL. He tried to make a break back to Mexico but was fortunately caught. He was earning $7.00 an hour for driving a semi. Who's at fault here?

Yeah, without a doubt, the guy, but he's not alone. The outfit that hired him had to know his status. Why else would he be earning $7.00 for driving a rig? That guy took a job away from someone that deserved it, earned it, but was lowballed out of it. I'm sure this happens in other professions too. Companies/individuals that hire these people should face fines AND jail.

I heard one guy say we should just leave them alone as they contribute to our society. How? They don't pay taxes when they're here illegally. They support a criminal element by getting all those bogus papers/ID's. They mostly drain our economy and usually only support their businesses. I'm really tired of calling places and hearing messages in Spanish. Why not Polish or German or Russian or Swaheli(sp) or even French? There's people that have been here for several generations that still don't speak the language.

When my kids do something wrong, I don't give them treats or rewards, I punish them. I love my kids. These are strangers that will take away from my kids. Why should they be rewarded? Hey, if ya want to come here legally, WELCOME! It's a pretty damn good place. I don't care if they're from freakin Mars. Ya want to dance with the devil, ya got to pay the fiddler his dues. Can't do the time, don't do the crime. I now get off my soapbox.
