I'd say whoever that did that, did good by not cutting on the important part. Now that body can be removed from the 'life support' chassis and placed back where it belongs.

You've got a cool old Dodge that needs lots of resto work and a Blazer that can be driven but you don't want to drive a Blazer. Hey, put the Dodge body on the Blazer chassis without molesting the Dodge body. This actually seems reasonable to me.

But then, I did similar. A '51 Willys wagon on a '77 Scout chassis. Willys with bad frame, Scout with no body. So I put them together and I didn't cut on the Willys body tub. It's been eight years now and it's still going strong. If there were some great shortage of Willys body tubs(there isn't), mine could be unbolted from the Scout and bolted back onto a Willys frame.
