Started my interior project yesterday with the weather strip at the bottom of the door. The kit from VPW came with the clips and weather strip and I found it wasnt too tough to install. If you get a little loose spot a 1/8 pop-rivit will fix you right up, though I did not need to do it.

Today I was into the weather strip all the way around the door, you know, the one with those infernal "screw nails". Kit doesnt come with nails. Funny, since the kits for the hood windlace comes with nails that would work. Armed with knowledge from some of my fellow forum members I tried to save as many nails as possible and also armed with lots of 1/8 pop-rivits with the 1/16 to 1/8 reach. I found that if I saved the nails for the hard spots to reach at the back of my Dakota seat that I tackwelded into place that the rivits were a better way to install anyway. The new weather strip doesnt have as wide of a mounting strip as the old so the holes had to be redone anyway. I noticed that the flange on the truck has several sets of holes from at least one interior redo before me and they just did new holes also. I did extra holes around the corners at the tops of the door anyhow to make a smooth curve. I also found that if the mounting strip is cut when going around the curves it helps make the welt lay flat by removing stress on the wire filled strip.

I'm all wired now for the courtesy lights, stolen from my stash of '57 Cadillac parts. I wanted to play some with the lights and I found that a '57 Cad courtesy light mounts real slick under the glove box real close to the hand throttle matching the roll-under of the panel real nice. I put one there and then I plan to mount one right under (yes, under) the rear window for a kinda custom look.

Tomorrow it's the cardboard. I dread it but it test fit OK today, but it looks like a days work to get it right-patience being the key-just wish I had some.
