5 years ago I rebuilt the winch on my M37 at a friends gas station. Then jumped onto the highway to go pick up tires for him, as a way of saying thanks for the use of the shop.
Well,just after getting on I hear a strange kind of whine and a loud "SNAP" as I turn off the engine and coast off to the shoulder I see a trail of OIL behind me
*#%@#*^&% I said. Guessing I blew the engine, but instead:
I ripped the worm gear out of it's bedroom where he slepted all tucked in so quietly just minuets before.
Moral of my story is
it's cheaper not to *#@$%& up.
5 years later, (last week) I left my PW winch the in reverse mode making a huge mess on the drum but 30 min. later I was back in business.
