I have very little experience in the stamping end of metalwork that would be required for this. Meaning, knowing how to make a "cup" with no wrinkles in the steel. Would like to learn though. I've been told that there is a certain liquid that is sprayed onto the metal that allows it to "flow" and not wrinkle. It would require a rather large press and some bigger dies($$$$) but anything is possible if it was done before.
I guess it depends on what your going for. If they don't have to be exactly right keep your eyes open for things like old ashtrays, cup bottoms and such that might moxck up okay. Fiberglass and resin as you suggested might be okay too. Maybe someone else here can add something.
Alot of the things I've made have happened because I was willing to try. Not everyone worked but you do learn from it! Kevin
