but I flat-towed my M37 400 miles with no problems, using a chevy 1/2-ton loaded up to 5800 lbs GVW as the tow vehicle. It had a home-made tow bar bolted to the front bumper, and I added a binder chain around both vehicles frames as a safety chain. I didn't go very fast, but I drove at night over the mountains so as not to hold up traffic. I wanted as much weight as possible in the chevy, even though it meant going 20 mph up the hills, because I wanted to make sure the back end stayed in the back when I applied the brakes, which were not very good.

Of course that was a very rough M37 that hadn't cost me much so I didn't want to spend much hauling it. A nice rig like your fire trucks deserves to ride on a flatbed or a good construction trailer pulled by a 1-ton truck. It also occurs to me that if your truck is in good driveable condition as it appears to be, why not just drive it? Go when the weather is nice, take the back roads, don't go over 40 mph, and it would be a fun trip.
