Short version, see the subject line (no question). Long version is that I have a 98 2500 short box extended cab 24 valve. I bought the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty just because NOBODY uses a good transmission these days. (The engine doesn't need the 100,000 mile warranty even though they give one but I wouldn't chance it without one on a Ford. On my way back from Colorado this summer I pulled a goosneck with a 30 ft. bed that weighs 4400# empty. I was carrying one M37 and a 4x4 civilian Dodge that had 1400#s in the back of it. 17,000 to 18,000 total. In Nebraska and Iowa they let you do 75 MPH while pulling a trailer. And it did. In over drive (automatic) and get this with the high speed axle ratios. (And I was concerned when I bought the truck and was going to order the stump puller version axles) Well kids don't try this at home with your Fords unless you want to stick $3000. worth of Banks kit parts in it and then try to get them to cover your trannys after you tear them apart. One more word. The suggestion to consider the Chevys comming out. I drove them for 25 years including thier long line of lame diesels. I couldn't wait any longer. They were a day late and a diesel short. Christmas is comming. They should have had out what they say they are bringing out years ago. Who wants to wait 2, 3 years or more to shake the bugs out and yes there will be. No thanks you can be the gunea pig. The Commins is bullet proof and long proven why even consider something less.
