It is quite possible that chrome and a winch may have been prsent on some of the trucks in the order. All I have is one photo to go by. Who knows what the rest of the order was spec'd at? A winch could be useful even on a stateside army base, and chrome is not unusual on civilian vehicles ordered for non-tactical (conbat) use.

Military contract vehicles have an ordnance data plate showing contract, serial and other numbers. The question here is - where such plates installed on civilian vehicles in the military. If they always were, then where is yours? If not, I think there is ample evidence to go ahead and paint the truck in militay paint. But to make sure, what you should do at this point is carefully sand down some of the paint and see if it is olive on top of a civilian paint, suggesting someone merely painted it to look like a military truck, or if it is olive over primer. If olive over primer, I think that will conclusively prove it is a military vehicle.
