Watched an engine rebuilder do it on a model A engine once.
1. Make your molds. (Plaster of Paris appropriate for your use? Be sure to bake the molds out to remove moisture or they will pop from internal steam buildup.
2. Torch heat the bearing to be re done.
3. (Very important) Tin the area. Flux/ babbit/torch/wire brush to clean and tin the area.
4. Quickly insert your molds and pour the stuff.
5. Disassemble and do your machining thing.
6. Be glad that's why insert bearings were invented.
7. Torch it out and do it over when the bearing surface looks crappy from too cold of a melt.....
