: I have a '73 W200 that I am building. I have a 440 and a freshly built 727 to drop in. I've heard rumors that the currrent overdrive trannies are just a good old Torqueflite with an overdrive unit in place of the tailshaft housing. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea as to how strong it is, or if it's true. My future plans call for a 500 cube stump puller to replace the 440 at a later date. Does anyone know if I can put the factory overdrive on my big block case and how strong will it be? I have the remote mount 205 T-case and know it would need moved, but right now that would be easy, compared to when the truck is all together. Thanks for the help.

Mr Morpar, you might want to consider constructing solid (strong) moter mounts for such a torque monster, I once had a '74 3/4 ton PW with the divorced t-case, it only had a 318, put if you had it in lowrange and were a little harsh on the throttle, it had a bad habit of tearing those rubber mounts apart! With the divorced t-case, those motor mounts are the ONLY things keeping that entire motor from turning over under the hood!
