I put my nuts and bolts in ziploc bags during the disassembly, and marked where they went to.
In most cases the hardware was too far gone to try to salvage.
It was faster to get new hardware then to spend time cleaning,
as I don't have a blast cabinet, and the chemical
rust removers were even more expensive. I did re-tap
the holes to clean them out when possible.

I used PPG paint and primer on my truck. Most modern
paint systems are good, I chose PPG mainly because of
the service I received from the guys at the store.
They were very willing to help, and answer all my
questions. I told them what I would be doing with
the truck, and they recommended the paint and primer.
