Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but PW fenders from a bed with stamped sides will fit by welding up the mounting holes in the wheel wells. These fenders mount on the flat part of the bed side just outside the wheel wells. Fenders from a flat sided PW bed will not work because they mount inside the well and are bigger anyway. I'm pretty sure a '49 originally would have had the flat sided bed like a WDX.
I'm building a '52 B-3 PW and I'm using a bed from a '48 2WD 3/4 ton (B-model) because I couldn't find a PW bed. If you want to call me, I'm working on a possible way around the fender problem. MIKE 606/384-2187
