I have a 59 sweptside 3/4 powerwagon that has a Dana 44 front and was supposed to have a corp rear
with a 10 bolt cover and 8.75 ring. When I ordered gears for the change over to 3.54 from the 4.89
I was told I had an old style case (not the 742 or 489) and they could'nt fit gears (DTS). I again
looked at the setup in the rear and noted it had 12 bolt case cover and was a full floater carrier
with little scallops on the rear cover between the bolt holes, The numbers on the ring gear are
856 122 4.89
419 - 5 -1941
The entire unit was swapped in wheel to wheel. The tubes are larger then original cause shock plates
would'nt fit on u- bolts and were discarded. I think its from an early 40's large truck or a power
wagon. I am putting a Dana 60 in the rear and I no longer need the rear so if you can use it let me
know..The 4.89 gears and carrier from the 44 are also available. The wear pattern is good but the
carrier bearings got damaged in disassembly. Further details if you are interested.. mike y.
