Hand sanding does sound good, however, about every inch and a half, is a 3/16 diameter dome head rivet, I'd never get all of that paint away in a reliable manner. Heat is out of the question according to a good friend[local 80 year old blacksmith and resident genius here in Newport] he says my truck's aluminum is very nearly perfectly straight, and heat will cause localized warping! Joe was an aircraft mechanic in the pacific in ww2 and I trust his judgement, he admits he's unfamiliar with strippers though, hence my inquiries. Under all this paint is the original o.d. green. We all know this is tough stuff! I'd hand and d.a. sand if I knew an efficient way to deal with the rivet areas. Any ideas?? The last thing i want is to sand the tops off the rivets!! They're way too cool!
