I turned on an oven in a cabin on the beach in Baja years ago, thinking it would be preheating. About 15 minutes later, I realized it wasn't hot. Under the lingering
effects of a previous night of debauchery, I did something really dumb. I lit a match, opened the oven door and stuck my hand inside to light the burners. Quite an eye-opener. Actually burned my eyebrows and some of the hair on my head, but we lived. The explosion knocked me on my back and shook the windows in the house enough to get the attention of everyone in the other cabins nearby. JH
