I think perhaps this is an observable phenomenon. I see it happening with increasing frequency. To wit: A person posts an announcement that they have either found, or are selling an item on Ebay. The correct etiquette is to include a link or at the very least an item number. When this is not done, the poster is usually prompted to do so. Eric simply stated this request in a rather acerbic tone. Some of us, myself included ; work with sarcasm and irony as a convenient tool to extract a modicum of compliance with proper behavior within a group. I have noticed this sort of interaction occur with increasing frequency and amusement. The phenomenon extends to every day life. People are more prone to point out a faux pax to the individual who for instance , jumps to the head of a line in front of others who are waiting patiently. Or the person who brings enough groceries to cross the Yukon to the 10 items or less line at the market.
My personal opinion is that it's a good trend, and may lead to reduced stress if practiced regularly.
