I think that you need to slow down a little. Removing the engine, seperating the transmission, can be full of suprises. If the transmission is not properly supported, it can wind up on the floor, or worse on top of some unsuspecting part of your body. The best way to remove them is as a pair, bolted together, out the top! Using an appropriate engine hoist, and removing all the front sheet metal. This is a pretty safe method and is not terribly difficult.
